photos - various - part 5

This group of haitian men were working on taking down the collapsed Samsung store on Airport Rd.

A haitian construction company painted this mural on their wall in english and creole " Rebuilding Haiti Together" In the background there are lots of buildings... undamaged! It is amazing how some areas of Port-au-Prince have little damage and others are heavily damaged.

The Lycee Horatius Laventure is located on Delmas 31. This state secondary school was heavily damaged during the earthquake. Support posts at the front were damaged. The school has been relocated to the Delmas 75 area under wooden/tin shelters for class rooms.

The view from the side doesn't look too bad. Amos used to attend this state school when he first started secondary school.

Across the street from the "Lycee" is this collapsed 3 story home. There is a rescue story from this house. A neighbor worked 3 hours after the earthquake freeing a boy from the rubble. He was removed unharmed from the rubble. The man who saved him is proud that he is alive and told me this boy now goes to school. There is a sad story too. 2 people died when the building collapsed during the earthquake.
