SENATOR JEAN-CHARLES FILES DOCUMENTS TO THE NATIONALITY COMMITTEE
(Defend Haiti) -
PORT-AU-PRINCE - Senator Moïse Jean-Charles (Nord/Inite) has filed before a special Senate Committee on Nationality, documents, he says, proves that the current Haitian president holds both U.S. and Italian citizenship.
According to the Haitian Constitution, dual nationality is not allowed in "no case."
Reported by Le Matin, "today is the end for President Martelly,... too long he has lied to the people, .... the truth is now clear, .....leaving only his removal," launched the senator, who said that documents are now in the possession of the committee, but did not specify the content.
The senator says he received the assistance of other foreign parliamentarians in preparing the dossier.
Jean-Charles has promised to write to the President of the United States Senate Foreign Relations Committee, John Kerry (D-MA), to seek his help in proving the U.S. citizenship of Michel Martelly.
"The president is an Italian citizen, in addition to being American," repeated the senator.
Senator Youri Latortue (Artibonite/AAA) confirmed reception of the documents from Senator Jean-Charles and as the reporter of the special senate commission, says he intends to conduct a credible investigation.
In the opinion of the Senator of North, President Martelly must answer to justice for deceiving the vigilance of the entire population.
The accusations of Senator Jean-Charles and the filing of the documents coincide with the visit of a delegation of Canadian parliamentarians at the Haitian Parliament.
Dismissed state employees protested outside the offices of the Legislative Building with cries of 'Vive Moise, Aba Martelly'.
