BANDITS TRYING TO SURFACE

At least 2 armed bandits, implicated in a robbery of a supermarket in Cap Haitien, have been killed during an exchange of fire with the authorities last Saturday. One of the bandits who was involved in the robbery was lynched by the population. During the exchange of fire a policeman was shot in the abdomen.
At the same time, in the Delmas area at least 4 people were hurt during a robbery. The bandits, riding on a motorcycle attacked an individual who was making a transaction at a bank.
In the capital, a student from the faculty of Human Sciences, Luckenson Francois and a Dominican were killed this past weekend. The police have recently put in place a security plan to clamp down on criminal actions in the metropolitan area. The divisional inspector Joseph Dumont, responsible for the Port-au-Prince commissariat, assures that the new deployment will bring calm in the Champ de Mars zone. He revealed that several bandits have been apprehended, where some of them were preparing for criminal acts. A repeat offender, Lundi Pascal, who was released from prison on September 27, was apprehended in possession of a revolver while he was preparing to rob a bank. He was apparently arrested for his implication in the assassination of a student from INAGHEI.
In the Artibonite, the security forces have arrested Pierre Gary, an individual who was wanted, for his implication in numerous acts of violence. An operation was performed in Petite Riviere of the Artibonite, where he was hiding, after the death of a gang chief during an exchange of gunfire with public forces.
