Bill is concentrating at nailing the boards together to make sure he doesn't hit his thumb!

The guys are almost done.

While I was taking pictures from the roof of the screening being done I looked over the neighbors yard and took some pictures.

The lot behind us is occupied by a few squatter families. Their building is an unfinished building but it is better than living in a tarp shelter!

One evening we heard a loud sound and the first thought on everyone's mind was "earthquake". Everyone jumped up and ran away from the house. Actually it was this pickup truck that lost its brakes. The driver managed to avoid some pedestrians and smashed it into a wall and rear ended another vehicle. One of the passengers ended up being taken to the hospital with a broken arm. Here in Haiti you have to keep on your toes. The next earthquake could hit at any time!

We used some of the leftover sand/gravel to make a walkway from the toilets to the dormitory rooms.

It makes things a lot cleaner.

Michelle even got a chance to use her nursing skills! She changed a bandage for a lady who had an abscess under her arm that opened and was infected.

While preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Tomas we made a channel through rubble pile in front of our house to the drainage pipe under the wall.

We wanted to make sure the water could easily drain out of the yard in heavy rain storms. It wasn't a very pleasant job for the guys to do but it got done!

This 3 story apartment building is also in our neighborhood. The 1st story completely collapsed under the weight of the 2nd and 3rd levels.

A servant in this building whose name is Linda was killed. She is under the rubble. She managed to live for a few days but nobody could remove her from the rubble and she is now dead.

The other side of the apartment complex also collapsed with each level collapsing through to the 1st level.

This man is pointing to where the location of one of the bodies is under the rubble. 3 bodies are in this section of the rubble. The death toll according to the government is now estimated to be around 230,000. Most likely it is around 300,000 with unrecovered bodies that are still under the rubble and those that have been buried by relatives or burned by citizens.
