Poor Kimosabee broke his back. It was a large repair.

The springs sprung! Instead of stacked they formed a fan. 2 of the plates on the right side and 1 on the left broke. The mechanic was able to find some replacements again and Kimosabee was rolling again on Friday!

Port-au-Prince has some decorations up for Christmas. This is the large christmas tree that the Sogebank on Delmas puts up every year.

They also put out a nativity scene.

The older guys put up our christmas tree. They had fun! Have a blessed Christmas as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is what the middle of the Champ Mars public park looks like. Port-au-Prince needs more large public space areas like this one.

This publicity vehicle is circling the park playing christian music. The man in the white suit is a "street preacher".

Benson is very superstitious. He comes from a voudoo influenced family. He is scared of the "Day of the Dead" holiday. He was told by his uncle when he was younger that the dead walk around on this day. He didn't want them to see him! Manu is just playing. Pray that the christian influence in his life will take away all his superstitions as he grows in the faith.

A truck jacknifing on Delmas 31 happens every so often. This happened while my parents were here.

My dad is practicing carry a pan on his head. He looks comfortable!

This 13-year-old mentally handicapped child is from the village of Merger. When her mother brought her child for the first time she only weighed 20 pounds. The mother has been coming here every week for some Feed My Starving Children rice meal packages. In one month's time she has gained 5 pounds and she now weighs 25 pounds. She still has a lot of catching up to do but hopefully this forward progression in weight will continue. We give the Lord thanks that we have food to share with those in need.

One day Benson came home from school to change out of his school uniform. He put this outfit on. I told him that it was too early to go to bed. Notice the long sleeves. It definitely was not a cool day here in Haiti. He liked the colors!

This is "Gus" my pet gecko. In the early evenings he usually climbs up the wall hunting for mosquitoes. There is a nice view of the Rideau Canal in winter in the background.

I call the Coram Deo home a flophouse because we live quite humbly here. The cushions were ripped a long time ago and we make do with what we have. I told my parents that if they want to sit down on something other than a bench that they would need to make new cushions.

The furniture is very solid!

Every morning I like to walk the children to school. Benson attends the Christian Light Ministries School which is located in the Cite Aux Cayes area of Delmas 31

Manu too goes to the same school.

This woman came to Coram Deo looking for help for her twin baby girls. The father of the babies died in an accident in Fond Parisien while he was digging in the sand/gravel pit there. Since his death the mother has struggled. Please keep this woman in prayer.

Saturday, we piled 17 people into Kimosabee and traveled to Archaie to visit Jacob. He is now re-integrating back with his family. He is doing well.

This home is where Jacob's uncle and family live.

Souvena Pierre Louis's left foot is clubbed. It is similar to Solyvien Favra who is currently in the United States for surgery.

You can see how twisted her foot is. She too walks on the top part of her foot. She lives in the Delmas 31 area.

The children are clowning around with Marie. These cutouts when put together will form a uniform.

Marie has been sewing up a storm this week. She even had 3 other ladies helping her cutting out and putting together uniforms. She is a good sub-contractor!

Nelson is the boy on the left. He is Lukner's son. Benson is on the right. They spent time one afternoon hunting for tarantulas. They were proud that they caught 2!

This is a picture from the last time that I saw Phara Simeon which was in January 2009. Her hair was turning an orange color from malnutrition. We heard from her family that she died in the province at her family's home. Her mother did the best she could to look after her.

Ketline Andre is a young woman who has one leg that never developed normally. As a result her good leg became crooked to compensate for the differences in leg length. Her spine also developed scoliosis because of the imbalance in leg lengths. She now gets around the best she can.

Manu went shopping downtown the other week for used clothing with Jn. Eddy. The children have worn out most of their clothes and the mice have chewed up a few too! Here he is modeling one of his outfits he picked out.

We received a food donation from Love a Child of Feed My Starving Children rice meals through being part of ODEO. We use these meals to feed the children in the school program here at Coram Deo.

The guys are watching an afternoon soccer game on the television set. When the game was over everyone got back to doing their homework in preparation for end of year school exams.

This is what the ravine looks like during heavy rains in the Cite Jeremie area. You can see part of the ravine wall sloughing off into the ravine. The waters were moving quickly!

On the right hand side the water is eating away under the foundation of this house. The pig walking on the left hand side later entered the waters and was swept away.

Yvens St. Hilaire is a 4-month-old baby boy who was born without an anus. At 3 days of age he had an emergency colostomy performed. Now the family can not afford any further surgeries. His name is on our medical search list. Please keep him in prayer.

Yvens is a twin. His brother's name is Yvenson.

We got sad news this week that Sammy died in Fond Baptiste. He was 20 years old. He is in heaven now where he suffers no more.

Jacob had his 15th birthday this week. Jacob is Sammy's cousin. It was on a visit to see Jacob when I first met Sammy (when he was 11 years old).

This 6-year-old girl is our newest addition to the school program here at Coram Deo. Her mother died a couple of weeks ago and her 7-month-old baby sister died a week later. She is now an orphan and will be raised by her aunt and uncle. Her aunt, Joana is one of the hydrocephalus parents (mother of Chrisno). By the end of the week she was sitting in class and starting to smile. Keep her in prayer.

Gilberto Romain is a happy 3-year-old boy who has cerebral palsy. His mother said that he can't still hold his head very well and I told her not to give up that it would just take more time.

I showed her that one day he may walk. Here he is making an effort to stand. Here he is trying to push up with his head. This is a good exercise to build neck strength. Hopefully she will keep in contact.

Valny Brunel is a 46 year old man who recently had his left leg amputated just below the knee. In August 2008 he was robbed in the Fond Parisien area by three men armed with knives. They pushed him into a hole which was about 10 ft deep. His leg was severely damaged. He went to the Medecins Sans Frontieres Hospital where they attempted to save his leg. In April 2009 they ended up amputating it. He got robbed after completing a business deal and had $5,000US in cash on him. He believes his business partner arranged the robbery. His business partner suddenly died a week after this mans' leg was amputated. Valny had told his family and friends not to take revenge.

Christella Odene is a 13-year-old girl who suffered some serious burns in a fire when she was only 3 months old.

Her right hand suffered some scarring damage. With plastic surgery I think that her hand function can improve. A plastic surgeon who specialises in hand surgery visited Haiti a couple of years ago. I am going to try and get into contact with him to see if he may be able to help this girl.

Marie Alsouna Maitre is a 13-year-old girl who I met 11 years ago. She was born with an encephalocele between her eyes. Ruth Zimmermann of Notre Maison found surgery for her in the United States during that time. The doctors in the United States told her that they would be able to do further surgery on her tear ducts 10 years later. I don't have any of her old info. Pray that we can find the hospital that helped her and also if they can help her once again.

Freud Jean is a 7-month-old baby boy with hydrocephalus. The family lives in the Fond Parisien region. We brought him to Healing Hands this week to register in the next hydrocephalus program. We had 3 new hydrocephalus contacts this week!

Pastor Pierre's home is on the right side of the road. His house is not far from where we met people.

The entire time we were there we were the only vehicle on this road/trail. It seems like more horses and people walk this road than vehicles!

Kimosabee handles the mountain road well!

This week the mother of Chaina Brunot came by the house. She is 6 months old and had a shunt surgery in January 2009 at General Hospital. We registered her at Healing Hands so that she can be part of the follow-up process.

Sterline Bonhomme is tiny for a 4-month-old baby girl. She only weighed 6 pounds when Dorothy took her in. Her mother couldn't breast feed or afford to buy baby formula. As a result she was suffering from malnutrition and weak.
