photos - port glace, iliodor - part 1

Before meeting Iliodor we had to stop by Paulna's village and pick up a relative of Iliodor. He led us to Iliodor.

We stopped along the Malpasse road. The lake edge is beside the road.

Iliodor Noel is doing well after having his leg amputated.

His home village is across the lake in a place called Port Glace.

He made a cell phone call to someone in the village to send the sailboat across to carry Wilben's and his mother. Here is a photo of the boat starting out.

The sailboat made quick progress crossing the lake with a strong breeze pushing it forward.

The sailboat driver yelled out to the rowboat driver to get out of the way. The driver pulled on his oars to get out of the way. One of the passengers was a little anxious and was preparing to abandon ship! The sailboat passed without incident.

The sailboat stopped along the shore and Wilben's mother started to descend the boat holding Wilben's in her arms.

Wilbens is 4 months old and looks like a candidate for hydrocephalus surgery. Hopefully he will be considered for the next round of hydrocephalus surgeries in October 2008.
