RENE PREVAL AND A SENATOR HAVE FALSIFIED THE CONSTITUTION

René Préval and a senator, falsified the text of the amendment of the Constitution, is what was affirmed Sunday on a radio station of the capital by the professor Sauveur Pierre Etienne, National Coordinator of OPL.

Being careful not to reveal the name of the Senator complicit in this falsification, the Coordinator of OPL stressed that former President Préval had many friends in the Senate, citing among others senators Jocelerme Privert and Joseph Lambert, who according to him, could shed light on this falsification.

Professor Étienne, who is against the promulgation of the amended Constitution, urged the Chief of State to be cautious, stating that "Some of his close people may wish his fall," and that by taking this decision, it would be equal "to his resignation", stating that according to the law, the Constitution does not enter into force during the reign of the President who promulgates it.

ARTICLE - $500 MILLION IN CUSTOMS REVENUE

NARLY $500 MILLION IN CUSTOMS REVENUE

Jean-Jacques Valentin, the Director General of the General Administration of Customs, has announced this week, that customs revenues, for the last 10 months (October 2010 - July 2011) are up, to 19 billion gourdes (1 USD = ± 40 gourdes).

Tax revenues reaching just over 85% of the 22 billion gourds provided by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, for the State budget for the current year.

Jean-Jacques Valentin, was visibly satisfied with the results, and he wished to clarify that for the first two weeks of August, his institution had already collected one billion additional gourds.
