RATIFICATION MEETING OF DR. CONILLE NEXT MONDAY
(Haiti Libre) -
Senator Dieuseul Simon Desras, President of the Commission in charge of analyzing the documents of the Prime Minister-designate, Dr. Garry Conille, has confirmed that the Commission had submitted its report to the office of the Senate Thursday evening. According to the Senator, the Senate Assembly will meet in session Monday Setembre 3, 2011, to proceed to the debate and vote of ratification.
"...we confirm that since yesterday [Thursday] the report was officially submitted to the office of the senate. The mission of the office of the Senate is to distribute a copy of the report to each Senator of the Assembly so that they can read the report 24 hours before the ratification meeting. People who are empowered to make it public at this time, .... are not us. It is the office of the Senate [...] There are 8 members in the Commission. There are 5 who have already signed. The three others that have not signed, is because they were not in Port-au-Prince; but we believe, at the opportune moment, when they will return, they will sign..."
Senator Steven Benoit, who no longer grants his support to President Martelly, signed the report with the words "under all reserves", therefore clearly showing his dissent on aspects of this report; as he explains "...when I finished reading the document I signed the report, under reserves, because there is a set of things that I saw in the report with which I do not agree. As Article 198 of the Rules of Procedure of the Senate said, if a Senator in a commission has a dissenting position, you have the right to record your position in the minutes, so I recorded my dissenting position next to my signature. I put it under all reserves..., So I announced that I will have a dissenting position and I'll write a page on my dissenting position, so that everyone knows why I will vote one way or another..."
