"POLITE" ANSWER OF MIRLANDE MANIGAT TO PRESIDENT MICHEL MARTELLY
(Haiti Libre) -
Following the announcement Thursday, of the intention of President Michel Martelly to meet with former Presidents of Haiti, including Leslie Manigat, as part of a dialogue and of national reconciliation, Mirlande Manigat, wife of the former Head of State, trivializes the approach of President Martelly and is ready to receive him if the latter asks him.
"...I learned of it this morning. We have not yet received an invitation, and we wait... We never had a problem of talking with him [President Martelly] and anyway, it is a tradition that there is in Haitian political life, that the new Head of State meets with former Heads of State who are living in the country. This is perhaps is the perspective, .... with this idea that he decided to do it...
It's in my house that he will come. Personally, whatever person who comes to my house, that I know I receive [...] I have no opinion [on the call for reconciliation],... this call for reconciliation means that there are people who are angry,... he knows the situation, .... he knows in what conditions he came to power. The call for reconciliation... yes... it's a good formula. The problem is reconciliation with whom, why and for what purpose ? [...]
I am ready to receive anyone into my home. I am a person who is polite and well educated. If a person announces his visit and he to my home, it's normal that I receive him..."
