photos - election protest 3 - part 7

People in Haiti are protesting because they want a change and want to see the country move forward.

They are waiting for a leader who will rebuild the country and control the corruption that is rampant in Haitian society.

Tanya, Amos and I headed downtown to visit the area around the palace and to talk with some of the people who live in the camps. I want to be a witness to what is happening and to see their frustrations and the only way to do this is to "be there". We visited the "Musee Pantheon". This museum is below ground and among the artificacts there is the anchor from the Santa Maria! Haiti has a rich history. This fountain/pool is on the grounds of the museum.

Outside is a relic from the days of the old Haitian military. This anti-aircraft gun is on the grounds of the museum as well.

We sat by the gun under the shade of a tree and watched the activity around the palace and Champ de Mars.
