RESURGENCE OF ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN PETIT-GOAVE

Thursday, June 7, Dimitri Lindor, a young boy living on Rue Dessalines, nicknamed "Nan Percin", was violently attacked at about 7:30 pm at the time he presented himself at a borlette located on Rue Dessalines. Dimitri, who was bleeding heavily was rushed to the Notre Dame Hospital of Petit-Goâve.

Individuals, and supporters of the perpetrator, from Nan Percin, broke into the hospital, it seems, to execute the victim, according to reports gathered on the spot. Revenge could be the motive for this drama. Alarmed, the police went immediately to the scene to protect Dimitri, and secure nurses. The population deplored the incident, and demanded that the Notre Dame Hospital be equipped with security guards.

Moreover, Yvon Louis, aka "Zeze Couronne" a citizen well known in the city, responsible for a funeral home, was the victim of a serious assault, this Friday, June 8th. At around 12am, three people traveling aboard motorcycles attacked Yvon Louis at Croix-Martyre, in the Cupidon locality. They tied him up and then beat him. Believing him dead, the bandits buried him up to the neck before fleeing. A woman from the area, who saw the victim moaning, spread the news. People and the police responded quickly to rescue the victim.

Yvon Louis, was rushed to a hospital in Léogâne, placed on oxygen, and is in critical condition. Citizens are asking the police to be vigilant in the downtown, and especially on the national highway #2 at the level of the 2nd plaine of Petit-Goâve, to fight against this upsurge of insecurity.
