IN PETIT-GOAVE, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE PROUD TO MAKE A CITIZEN ACTION
(Haiti Libre) -

As part of the continuation of a sanitation campaign of the urban center of Petit-Goâve launched by the local Adventist church, a group of young Christians, members of the "Adventist Youth Society", began last Sunday, an extensive cleanup operation of the cemetery on the outskirts of the city of Petit-Goâve.

Proud to make a citizen action, these young Adventist Christians have picked up while singing, a large amount of trash; waste of any kind that obstructed the flow of water in the channels. Under an agreement with the municipal authorities, this trash has been transported and dumped in a landfill site, by employees of the Municipality of Petit-Goâve.

"The Adventist Church has a social, spiritual, and educational mission. Our duty is to participate in all activities, to participate in the cleaning of streets of the city. We had agreed at the level of the church to clean up the area of the cemetery", informed Pastor Dorival Jean-Claude. Bertrand, another youth, in charge of a local radio station, explained that "Adventists do not only evangelize, they also participate in social actions. We are citizens, we live in a community, it is normal for us to fight against anything that might harm the health of the population. Cleaning the environment, is to help in the protection of the citizens."
