ARTICLE - EXECUTIVE OF UEH INSTALLED

INSTALLATION OF MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE OF THE UEH
(Haiti Libre) -

Last Friday, the Council of the State University of Haiti (UEH), proceeded to the installation of members of its new Executive Council, namely Messrs. Jean Vernet Henry (Rector, second term), Fritz Deshommes (Vice Rector) and Jean Poincy (Vice Rector). The ceremony was attended by the First Lady, Sophia Martelly, Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Commerce [former Vice-President, of academic affairs, UEH] and various government officials and of universities in Haiti.

In his speech for the occasion, Jean Vernet Henry declared "We at the head of the UEH, a new Council with 'fresh blood', namely Jean Poincy, vice-rector of academic affairs [...] The values ​​that should guide the UEH are responsibility, ethics, transparency, fairness, and solidarity. We are working to restore a climate of confidence in the rectory. We will also set up a dialogue space for all persons concerned [...] It is necessary to have a different view of the institution."

Returning to the criticism addressed concerning the management of the UEH, the Rector said that the criticisms of all kinds made to this institution, were unfounded. "They are not justifiable", regretting that the contribution of the UEH in Haitian society, is underestimated.

During this ceremony, the Rector announced the establishment of Masters and PhD programs in the coming days, ensuring that despite the inadequate budget of the University he will make of the UEH, a university of reference, and competitive at the global level,... with the help of all.
