COLLAPSE OF ST. ANNE CHURCH IN PORT-AU-PRINCE, NO CASUALTIES REPORTED
(Defend Haiti) -

PORT-AU-PRINCE - The ruins of Sainte-Anne Church (downtown Port-au-Prince), heavily damaged by the earthquake of 2010, collapsed Friday afternoon, causing no casualties.

During a church service held during the day, what remained of the temple had been very noticeably vibrating.

This warning prompted the religious and faithful to evacuate immediately, well before the disaster. The police and many onlookers were there early in the evening on the site.

Victims had been recorded in the old church of Sainte-Anne where extensive damage occurred during the tragedy of January 12. The columns left standing only supported a few walls, stained glass windows and the roof.

Several cracked buildings have collapsed since the magnitude 7 earthquake which, according to the official report, 250,000 people died mainly in Port-au-Prince.
